Additive Manufacturing Lab (AML) at West Virginia University (WVU) brings together both types of metal additive manufacturing – laser powder bed fusion, GE Concept Laser 200R, also referred to as direct selective laser melting, and laser-based directed energy deposition, AMBIT ™ Hybrid Systems – along with several pre- and post-process equipment for both fundamental and applied research on additive manufacturing. The lab will foster WVU’s interdisciplinary research in the area of advanced manufacturing.
Research Interests
- Directed energy deposition (DED) based hybrid manufacturing;
- Remanufacturing via laser-based additive manufacturing (LAM);
- Life cycle assessment (LCA) based sustainability analysis;
- Smart manufacturing, industrial 4.0, and future industries;
